Each year, the "Croo" at Bonnarroo selects talented artist from around the country to help beautify the festival grounds. I have been lucky enough to be chosen as a visual design artist for the past two years. The role of a visual design artist is to help with artist installations, artfully decorate the exterior and interior of the festival grounds, assist muralist to help finalize their work, and to prepare the grounds for the 80,000 fans ready to have a great time. Bonnaroo has given me the chance to network with music fans and artist alike. I have created life-long friends and memories and will always be a Roo'er.

Tuneage has grown to over a quarter of a million followers and has been featured on Mashable, HypeM and Streampad. After messaging Tuneage about checking out my music mix, they messaged me back asking if I would like to write for them. I happily agreed and the rest is history. My role for Tuneage is to research upcoming, new, and trending music, and to write a detailed review about my selected song. Below are some examples of songs I have selected and reviewed.
I Feel Love by Mounika
Imagine this—the sun is kissing your skin, there’s a warm breeze weaving through the car windows, and your favorite person is riding shotgun. Combined, they make this nostalgia filled song.
The beat master behind this track is Mounika, straight from Orléans, France. Mounika’s retro-soul chopped-n-screwed lyrics, are meshed together by a radiant buoyant beat, making it a perfect song to chill out to. Like any great soul song, this track goes right through my heart, extracting euphoria. Mounika’s beat reminds me that happiness in life is savoring small moments. Eye contact with a beautiful stranger, feeling your crush’s lips for the first time, that initial bite into that burrito you’ve been thinking of all day. Any little thing that makes you feel good, this track is equivalent to that feeling.
Mounika’s Soundcloud is rich with gems such as this one. He keeps his beats refreshing, while mastering the art of sampling and mixing. Some tracks include samples from Bob Marley, Wendy Rene, and Chilly Gonzales. If you’d like the album equivalent of breathing in fresh, soothing air, Mounika offers his albums for a small price and also streams some of his mixtapes for free. You can find Mounika’s music on Bandcamp and Soundcloud.
Dynasty by MIIA
MIIA is an exciting, up and coming pop singer/songwriter originating from Norway. Her rise to pop recognition originated shortly after releasing her debut single, In The Light of Love, in 2013 which stood at number 24 on the Norwegian iTunes Pop chart. Since then an acoustic cover of Sia’s track, Elastic Heart, has reached the masses, garnering over 1 million views on YouTube… and counting!
Her multi-octave, powerful vocals are extremely captivating throughout her songs. She sort of reminds me of a fresher Demi Lovato in her Skyscraper era. For such a young woman her lyrics and delivery harness a maturity beyond her years.
Her latest song, Dynasty, is an undeniably heart-wrenching ballad. It’s the type of song that is meant to be blasted through speakers at full volume while being despairingly lip-synced to. Raw and passionate, it is the quintessential break-up song. We have all been there, right? The original track is like a floating swan on a still lake - mesmerizing and introspective.
Dont Let Me Down By Chainsmokers ft. Daya
If you’ve heard The Chainsmokers, you know that listening to them is literally like chain smoking – you can’t stop! Their hit #Selfie garnered a whopping 400 million views on Youtube and reached #16 on the US charts. To no surprise, they have constantly been reeling out banger after banger with tracks like “Kanye” and “Roses” that have been mashed and remixed by other popular EDM artists. Since then, The Chainsmokers duo of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall have been rocking the EDM stage, playing in regular concert venues and festivals alike.
Their newest song, “Don’t Let Me Down,” featuring Daya, truly shows their ever-evolving sound, and I’m diggin’ it. The Chainsmokers never cease to amaze me by choosing what seems to be the best of the best vocalists to compliment their dirty beats. The guitar intro brings the wavy The XX vibe and sweeps right into Daya’s magnetic voice. Daya brings the guts and glory with her anthemic vocal hooks that set the track off. I always appreciate EDM artists who not only bring the banging beats but also incorporate live instrumentals and thunderous vocals. Their Sound Cloud is truly eclectic bringing in other amazing vocalists, such as Emily Warren, and Rozes, and deserves to be checked out.
